Upcoming Artist EdThatsMyCup’s Interview – Schools Don’t Do Enough To Stop Bullying

Daytona Beach native, EdThatsMyCup is one of the most exciting artists of 2020. The artist who said music is his life has gained huge exposure around the world with his first single Heavyweight.

EdThatsMyCup who said his biggest influences are Nipsey hussle, Roddy Ricch, Mac Miller, and Three 6 Mafia, maybe rising the heights of the music world, but life has not always been easy.

The artist who would love to work with Jay-Z was bullied at school like millions of other children around the world. EdThatsMyCup who dropped out of school in 10th grade would like to see more done to stop bullying in schools. He hopes his success will show others who struggle at school and who are no good at exams that you can still achieve success.

We decided to sit down with EdThatsMyCup and learn more about the artist who has generated fans in Australia, the UK, and Canada.

Tell me about your musical journey. How did you become EdThatsMyCup?

Just making music throughout my life, I really never cared about a name besides my music.

So, you have been performing since the age of 16, wow! Did your friends treat you any differently knowing how talented you were?

No, I never really had any friends I was a huge outcast, back than my friends would rather bring me down than cheer me on.

I heard you dropped out in 10th grade, can you tell me why?

I was never good at school I just could not get good grades; I’d study. BUT I COULD NOT REMEMBER, I wish I were able to graduate.

Do you think schools do enough to stop bullying?

NOT AT ALL. No where close.

How has dropping out in 10th grade and being bullied affected you?

It defiantly taught me to be ready for the real world, I’m glad it happened…

What would you say to someone who is being bullied at school, what advice would you give them?


If you could sit down now with the teachers at your school about being bullied what would you say to them?

Let these kids fight an hit back without getting in any trouble, their defending their selves.

How important is music to you and your life?

So strong people have no clue, I play it on my KRK’s sleeping.

Was it a straight-forward decision to go into Hip Hop, or did you ever consider other types of music such as pop music?

I gravitated to Hip-Hop so hard for some reason its always been hip-hop.

Have your parents supported your decision to become an artist?

They have 110%.

What hip-hop albums did you grow up listening to?

A LOT of old Triple 6 Mafia an a lot of Eminem & Jay – Z

You have just released your latest track “Heavyweight” can you tell me more about the track?

It is  really just a fun song for all the big people out there.

Who wrote “Heavyweight” and where did you record it?

I did! (Edthatsmycup) An it was made it my room!

What is a typical day for you?

Wake up, smoke, listen to some beats to record to and see if I can come up with anything.

What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or producer?

Jay-Z on a track, hands down.

In your opinion, what’s exciting about the USA hip-hop scene?

Just the hype an autotune an violence, some of it is all real.

If you were not a musician what would you have been?

Probably just a addict with no habit.

If you could go back in time to when you were 15, what advice would you give yourself?

Don’t hold on to grudges, it consumes you’re time.
